With her early career specializing in starting colts for performance divisions, Samantha is one of the most versatile trainers in the horse industry today offering a tremendous wealth of varied experience and dedication to her horses and clients.

The 2015 Arizona Horseman’s Challenge Champion and 2018 competitor, she has completed multiple apprenticeships under world class trainers in varied performance divisions.  Most recently Samantha has won several championships in Working Equitation, a sport which she uses to cross train all of her performance prospects to prepare for their careers in their chosen show pen, whether main ring, Eventing, or Western performance.

In addition to multiple colt starting challenges, Samantha’s most recent accomplishments include:

2009-2011 Multiple Reserve Championships in Hunter Under Saddle and Western Riding Futurities

2015 Arizona Horseman’s Challenge Champion

2016 and 2017 Champion and Reserve Champion Level 3 Working Equitation Open

2016 Level 4 Working Equitation Champion

2017 and 2018 Multiple Ranch Riding Open Championships

2018 Arizona Horseman’s Challenge Competitor

After winning The Arizona Horsemans Challenge 2015, Samantha has begun to focus on starting colts headed into a career in Working Equitation, allowing her to combine solid trail basics, cattle work and dressage work in a most enjoyable way!

She spent a number of years herself in the team roping arena and working on ranches, so she fully understands what is needed in a good working horse. Having spent quite a bit of time working in the traditional buckaroo style of developing a good using bridle horse, she has a great deal of respect for the process of developing a solid ranch working horse.

Samantha genuinely enjoys coaching riders in lessons, and as she herself has spent her life learning, she has a wonderful way of teaching, from the ground up with a great deal of patience. With a down to earth way of explaining how to clearly ask your horse to accomplish what you are asking of it, her students learn quickly and advance their horsemanship skills to levels she never expected to see!

Regi Richter

Regi has been apprenticing with Two Braids Training for over a year. Regi has an incredible natural talent, combined with a lifetime of riding! Having competed in multiple Mustang Make-over competitions, Regi is well versed in starting colts and in evaluating horses, which she puts to good use in her volunteer work at a local horse rescue. Her ability to ride english and western equally well is a joy to watch! Her natural feel and read for a horse and what they need to excel is astounding. We are thrilled to have such a competent horsewoman on our team!
